my book!
here's an exurpt from my book i am writing, the four gems.
Emerald opened the door to her new bedroom. The first thing she did was walk slowly over to her window and stare out at the autumn colored leaves. She thought about living in New Hampshire and she wondered how the leaves could change colors, since they didn't do that where she had come from. She was always the type of girl to wonder things. The one thing Emerald liked best about the new house was that it had a forest in back of it. Emerald loved exploring. She was just about to flop down on the bed when her sister Pearl barged through the door. "Hey, Em!" she said. "Do you wanna go exploring? Do you? Do you? I'm going exploring. Do you wanna go? Do you?"
More than anything Emerald would have liked to go exploring, but not with her three-year-old sister. So she said, "Pearl you know you're not supposed to just barge into my room like that. Plus dad said you're not supposed to just go off like that."
"There you go again! I can't do this and I can't do that! I'd like to know what I can do!" And with that Pearl lift the room, slamming the door behind her.
Em thought about going exploring. Then she made up her mind to do it. She called to her dad, “I’m just going exploring, bye!” And then she ran out the door. When she got to the woods, Em found a little path. She wondered where it went. So she followed it. And she followed it. And she followed it some more. Finally, the path came to an end. And there, right in front of her, was an old-looking stone house covered almost all over with ivy and climbing plants. She went inside. All over was cob-webs and dust, but Em didn’t care. That made it all the more mysterious. The curtains were closed and the house was in tatters. Em decided to check out the back yard. It was mostly shrubbery and poison ivy and where a stream used to run through it, it was only a dry craggy ditch.
